Call-out and hourly rates
Standard plumber call-out fee: €60 to €90. Emergency (out-of-hours) call-out: €90 to €180. Hourly rate after the call-out: €60 to €90 per hour. Most straightforward jobs (tap replacement, toilet repair, pipe leak repair) are priced as a call-out plus one to two hours labour.
Dublin and Cork rates are typically at the higher end of these ranges. Rural counties are often slightly lower. Always ask for the call-out fee before the plumber visits — a reputable plumber will tell you upfront.
Boiler installation costs
Combi boiler supply and fit: €2,200 to €3,200 depending on brand and output. System boiler supply and fit (with cylinder): €2,800 to €4,000. Oil boiler supply and fit: €3,000 to €4,500. Fit-only (if you supply the boiler yourself): €600 to €900 labour. Annual boiler service: €80 to €120.
Heat pump supply and fit runs €12,000 to €18,000 before SEAI grant. With the €6,500 SEAI Better Energy Homes grant for an air-to-water heat pump, the net cost is typically €5,500 to €11,500 depending on the system size and installer. Full insulation upgrades are often needed alongside the heat pump and should be budgeted separately.
Bathroom installation costs
Full bathroom suite supply and fit: €4,500 to €9,000 depending on suite quality and whether tiling is included. A plumber-only fit (you supply fixtures): €1,800 to €3,500. En-suite installation: €2,500 to €5,000. Wet room conversion: €5,000 to €12,000. Toilet replacement: €250 to €450. Basin replacement: €180 to €350.
Tiling is almost always quoted separately by a tiler. Budget €40 to €80 per m² for floor and wall tiles installed, excluding the cost of tiles themselves.
Heating and radiator costs
New radiator supply and fit: €200 to €400 for a standard double panel. Designer or column radiators cost more for the unit itself (€150 to €600) plus €120 to €200 labour. Power flush (full system): €400 to €700 depending on the number of radiators. Underfloor heating installation per room: €800 to €1,500 (screed system) or €400 to €800 (electric mat). Zone valve replacement: €150 to €250. Thermostat replacement: €120 to €200.
Drain and waste costs
Drain unblocking (standard sink or toilet): €70 to €120. High-pressure jetting for a main drain: €150 to €280. CCTV drain survey with written report: €180 to €350. New soakpit installation: €800 to €1,800. New waste pipe run: €200 to €500 depending on length and access difficulty. Drain lining (no-dig repair): €800 to €2,500 per section.
